Veterinarians

 

Dr. Don Cromer

Dr. Don Cromer opened Westwood Animal Hospital along with Dr. William Hunter and Dr. John Wise in 1975.

He grew up near Durbin, West Virginia and graduated from Ohio State University in 1968.

Dr. Cromer owns several horses and 2 barn cats.

His special interests in veterinary medicine involve most all areas of the Equine profession. It's such a broad field as in racing, breeding, pleasure, and showing.

Dr. Cromer's interests outside of work include family, church, farming, and horses.

Dr. Cromer's family includes wife-Judy, 2 sons Michael and Jon, their wives Susan and Amy, 8 grandchildren, and daughter- Leslie.

 

 

Dr. William Hunter

Dr. William Hunter opened Westwood Animal Hospital along with Dr. Don Cromer and Dr. John Wise in 1975.

He grew up in McDowell and Staunton, Va and graduated from University of Georgia in 1966.

Dr. Hunter owns "Buffy" (cat), "Famous Amos" (cat), "Timmy" (cat), "Daisy Mazel" (Terrier)"Bandit" (bull), and 40 cows.

His special interests in veterinary medicine mostly involve bovine medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Hunter keeps busy on his farm.

Dr. Hunter's family includes wife- Pat, daughter- Anne, son- Lee, 2 grandchildren- Emily and Jonathen.

 

Dr. Wise

Dr. John Wise

Dr. John Wise opened Westwood Animal Hospital along with Dr. Don Cromer and Dr. William Hunter in 1975.

He grew up Augusta County and graduated from University of Georgia in 1965.

Dr. Wise owns "Rudy" (cocker spaniel), "Jerry" (pony), "Charlie" (TN walker), "Doc" (TN walker), and "Cookie Dough" (pony).

His interests outside of work include trail riding and collecting 2 cylinder John Deere Tractors (he now has 6).

Dr. Wise has been married for 43 years to wife- Wanda, and has 2 daughters; Tracey and Christy, and 1 son; Derek. Tracey is married to Joe Sherill and has 2 children; Adam and Leah. Derek is married to Dr. CJ Wise and has 1 daughter; Sage Winter.

 

 

Dr. Mike Cromer

Dr. Mike Cromer joined our staff in 1990.

He grew up in Churchville, Virginia and graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990.

Dr. Cromer owns Shorthorn cattle, chickens, 3 barn cats, and "George" (Terrier)

His family includes wife - Susan, and 4 sons, Kyle, Craig, Brian, Tom.

His veterinary medicine special interests include soft tissue surgery, ambulatory large animal and bovine herd health.

 

 

 

Dr. CJ Ceglowski

Dr. CJ Ceglowski joined our staff in 2001.

She grew up in Rupert, Vermont and graduated from Cornell in 1998.

Dr. CJ owns "Zeb" (dog), "Jessie" (dog), "Macy" (dog), "Sister" (dog), "Patch" (dog), "Biscuit" (horse), and "Floyd" (horse).

Her special interests in veterinary medicine include equine medicine and equine reproduction.

Dr. CJ enjoys horseback riding, hiking and farming.

Her family includes husband- Derek, and daughter Sage.

Dr. Dianne Buhrman

Dr. Dianne Buhrman joined our staff in 1995.

She grew up in Newark, De and graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional School of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.

Dr. Buhrman owns "Mabel" (boxer cross), "Bananie" and "Bogie" (both Dachsund crosses), "Scardi", and "Patches" (both cats), "Annie" and "Cambria" (Paint horses).

Dr. Buhrman's special interests in veterinary medicine includes surgery and cold laser therapy.

Her interests outside of work include horseback riding, traveling, and spending time with family.

Dr. Buhrman's family includes the Buhrman family, lots of friends and all of her animals.

 

 

Dr. Nikki Clayton

Dr. Nikki Clayton re-joined our staff in 2010.

Dr. Clayton had worked here as a large animal Veterinarian for 2.5 years and small animal for .5 year before moving to Texas.

She grew up in Staunton, VA  and graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 .

Dr. Clayton owns 3 dogs, "Skeet", "Ellie", and "Chubby".

Her special interests in veterinary medicine include emergency and internal medicine.

Her family includes husband- Mark and daughter Quincy.

Dr. Clayton enjoys spending time with her family and dogs.

 

Dr. Harvey

Dr. Alicia Harvey

Dr. Alicia Harvey joined our staff in 2011.

Se grew up in Waterville, ME and graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Harvey owns 4 cats, "Rajan", "Butterball", "Sophie", and "Lilly", and 1 dog "Reece".

Her family includes husband - Brad and 1 younger sister.

Dr. Harvey enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine.

She also likes hiking and camping.

Dr. Laura Kivlighan

Dr. Laura Kivlighan joined our staff in 2003.

She grew up here in Staunton, completed her undergraduate schooling at UVA in 1989 and graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional School of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.

Dr. Kivlighan currently owns Oscar (silky yorkshire terrier), "Dandy" (Yorkie mix), "Jodi" (Yorkie mix), "Jack" (Malti-Poo), "Fritzy" (Dachsund), "JJ" (Quarter Horse), "Tucker" (Quarter Horse), "Otis" (TN Walker), "Stearling" (TN Walker), "Twilight" (cat), "Curious Georgia" (cat), and "Henry" (cat).

Her special interests in veterinary medicine include small animal internal medicine and surgery.

She enjoys riding her horses, boating, anything water related, and travel.

Dr. Kivlighan's family includes her husband Rob McCormick, and 3 stepchildren, Drew, Sam and Will

 

 

Dr. Erin Aiken

Dr. Erin Aiken joined our staff in 2013.

She grew up in Sylva, North Carolina and graduated from North Carolina State University in 2013.                                

Dr. Aiken owns a bluetick coon hound “Holly” and “Bryson” an English Setter.

Her veterinary special interests include ruminant herd health and reproduction

Dr. Aiken enjoys fishing, skiing, shopping, and hanging out with family!

Her family includes her husband Jessee.

Dr. Aiken is Dr. Jenna Adams NCSU classmate!

 

 

 

Dr. Jenna Adams

 

Dr. Jenna Adams joined our staff in 2013.

She grew up in Hiddenite, North Carolina, and graduated from North Carolina State University in 2013.

Dr. Adams owns “Bo” (Bassett Hound), “Tucker” (Border Collie mix), “Sadie” (Beagle mix), and “Chloe” (DSH Calico cat).

Dr. Adams loves working on all animals but especially cattle, sheep, and goats!

Her interests outside of work include gardening, Zumba, and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Adams family includes her husband Clark.

She also graduated with Dr. Aiken from NCSU!
